4. नबूकदनेस्सर को केवल हट्टे—कट्टे यहूदी जवान ही चाहिये थे। राजा को बस ऐसे युवक ही चाहिये थे जिनके शरीर पर कोई खरोंच तक न लगी हो और उनका शरीर किसी भी तरह के दोष से रहित हो। राजा सुन्दर, चुस्त और बुद्धिमान नौजवान ही चाहता था। राजा को ऐसे युवक चाहिये थे जो बातों को शीघ्रता से और सरलता से सीखने में समर्थ हों।राजा को ऐसे युवको की आवश्यकता थी जो उसके महल में सेवा कार्य कर सकें। राजा ने अशपनज को आदेश दिया कि उन इस्राएली युवकों को कसदियों की भाषा और लिपि की शिक्षा दी जाये।
