17. उसके बचे हुए भाग को लेकर वह एक देवता अर्थात एक मूरत खोदकर बनाता है; तब वह उसके साम्हने प्रणाम और दण्डवत करता और उस से प्रार्थना कर के कहता है, मुझे बचा ले, क्योंकि तू मेरा देवता है। वे कुछ नहीं जानते, न कुछ समझ रखते हैं;

17. किन्तु थोड़ी बहुत लकड़ी बच जाती है। सो उस लकड़ी से व्यक्ति एक मूर्ति बना लेता है और उसे अपना देवता कहने लगता है। वह उस देवता के आगे माथा नवाता है और उसकी पूजा करता है। वह उस देवता से प्रार्थना करते हुए कहता है, “तू मेरा देवता है, मेरी रक्षा कर!”
